Bar Harbor Motel

Nestled against Acadia National Park, the Bar Harbor Motel is easy to find and convenient to all Bar Harbor shops, restaurants and attractions. We are located just 1 mile from the center of town and a short 1½ miles from the Acadia National Park main entrance. From the back of our property, guests can walk or ride trail bikes directly into Acadia National Park.

Whether your plans call for a short visit as you work your way Downeast or an extended stay while you explore Acadia National Park and all of Mount Desert Island, you’ll rest comfortably here at the Bar Harbor Motel. Pool & Patio

After a long walk on the carriage paths there are few things more refreshing than a dip in our pool. Maintained at a pleasant 80 degrees, our pool is so clear it looks like we imported the water from the Caribbean. The pool is open from 8:30AM – 10:00PM, in-season, and is fully fenced and gated to keep our younger guests where they belong. You’ll find plenty of comfortable chairs and lounges in which to relax as you read your favorite novel or simply “catch some rays.”

Transportation

One of the most convenient ways to get around Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island is on the Island Explorer shuttle bus system. This is a free, public transportation system that links together many of the area’s most popular sites and attractions using low-emissions, propane powered buses. Besides being free, the next best thing about the Island Explorer is it stops right in front of our property. Many of our guests report that they never used their vehicle during the entire time they were here. That certainly is the goal of the system and we’re happy to see it benefit our guests so directly.

Trail Access To Acadia

Just seven tenths (7/10) of a mile separate the back of our property and the historic carriage roads of Acadia National Park. The Bar Harbor Motel/Acadia Connector Trail join the two near intersection #5.   This connector trail is nicely worn down and easily followed.

The carriage roads are a system of 45 miles of carefully groomed, 16 foot wide, crushed gravel roads featuring some of the most spectacular stone and masonry work in country. A gift from John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his family, the carriage roads are closed  to all motorized traffic. Many of our guests report exploring all of Acadia National Park by bicycle and never interacting with any vehicles.

Please don’t get the idea these roads are just for bicyclers. The carriage roads are much softer and easier on the joints than asphalt or cement making them a terrific place for a brisk walk to burn off those blueberry pancakes.
